Today’s run was an almost unmitigated disaster: lethargic, slow, grinding, and about as far from enjoyable as you can get. Until forty-six minutes in, when I ran past a party and got a thirty second blast of Hit the road, Jack!
My form improved, my pace picked up, the nay-saying voices in my head quietened down, and I even stopped fantasising about bus stops.
Temporarily at least.
I’ve rarely been so pleased to reach home.

I share your pain…
