Farewell Febtathlon; Hello March Madness

Hello March Madness

As I’ve exercised on all but three days this year (!!!), I’m going to keep March simple.  Two goals, only one of which is active.  They are:

Goal one: run a parkrun every Saturday

  •
    • Since I have signed up for a running workshop on the 12th, the Bupa 10km at the end of May and the Windsor half marathon at the end of September, I might run a little more than this goal would suggest!

Goal two: de-clutter and find a way of staying de-cluttered

  •
    • Now, if you are reading this and thinking “Is that all?  When you finish using something, you just have to put it back in its place!  Simple!”, then I hate you you are obviously a putter.  I, on the other hand, am a dyed-in-the-wool, through-and-though leaver.  So, for me, this is a biiiiiig challenge!

Farewell Febtathon

I’m delighted to announce that the winner of Febtathlon 2011 is …

…Me!

To win, I needed five rules:

Rule one: Run every day in February.

  •
    • Effective for: 19 days (56 miles of running, 60 miles of cycling)

Rule two: Given the choice between a ‘token effort’ run and real exercise of a different sort, it is okay to opt for real exercise of a different sort.

  •
    • Effective for: 6 days (26 miles of cycling, 90 minutes of Nike workouts)

Rule three: If token run or real exercise are not possible due to time restraints, then eating chocolate will count as exercise for this day.

  •
    • Effective for: 1 day (Mmmmm!  Churros and dipping chocolate.  Thank you Shazruns for suggesting this rule!)

Rule four: If it hurts, it counts.

  •
    • Effective for: 1 day (20 yards of skipping with added hand crushing)

Rule five: A rest day can be taken when the total distance run this year equals the total distance cycled this year (117 miles apiece!  Woo Hoo!)

  •
    • Effective for: 1 day (no exercise, couldn’t be bothered!)

Well done on Febulous! love rule 3, think it should become a standard for all running training !! and I can totally understand about de-cluttering, my husband is the worst hoarder and it drives me nuts 🙂

If you find the magic answer to your March rule 2 please tell me! I’m currently surveying the result of my inability to put stuff away and can’t quite face the prospect of trying to clear it all up!

  3. When you find the holy grail of decluttering solutions please let me know!

  4. Maggiee says:

Congratulations on winning Febtathon. I am about to go and invoke your rule 3 now! Good luck with March Madness… There is absolutely no way on this earth, I could EVER manage your second goal! So the best of British luck to you!!! 🙂

  5. Hels says:

Good luck with March Madness…and see you at the Bupa?!

  6. shazruns says:

Only 3 days with no exercise you are super woman indeed! Amazing

  7. When you achieve goal 2 will you become my guru? I keep visiting friends who just appear to have no stuff at all and I’m envious!

Yay! Congratulations on completing Febtathlon and for being the winner! 🙂 My favourite rule is rule 3! Goodluck with your March Madness…this de-cluttering lark seems to be quite popular, certainly not my favourite of tasks! 🙂
