There are days when I am very glad to be “wonderfully, gloriously bonkers!” and today is just such a day.
Heaton parkrun provided the back drop. There is a lake and a hill and a golf course and a hall and today there was also a celebrity (the Ron Hill) giving out the long awaited 10- and 50-club t-shirts.
But more importantly, there was also an ‘athoner (the magathon) to meet and a reykjaviker to chat to. And while travelling hundreds of miles to run 5km is almost certainly bonkers, the company makes it wonderfully and gloriously worthwhile.
PS The other Ron Hill completed his 99th parkrun today. Fingers crossed, by this time next week, he’ll be a 100-clubber.
I’m glad you’re wonderfully, gloriously, bonkers too because that was a fun morning! Thanks for coming all the way to Manchester to do your Parkrun… I’m looking forward to our next meeting already. Enjoy the rest of your weekend ‘op north! 🙂
Yep bonkers. What a wonderful day for a run though do wish I could have got out but will have to wait till tomorrow, fortunately this will not entail a long drive! Congrats on ticking off another one on your list.
Well done! You getting very close tp the 50’s club 🙂
Oooh you should get your tshirt new years eve if you keep the different ones up – am happy to delay Bedford til then if you want to celebrate with an athoner!
Well done abradypus. I think it’s worth travelling for a race. We went to San Fransisco for an Ironman and Madeira to watch the triathlon world champs. Sometimes it’s nice to race on your doorstep too like I did this weekend. Variety is the spice of life! I will get my Parkrun ’10’ next time I race, so it will be nice to get that. :o)
The Ron Hill – what an icon!
Can’t be too long until you get your 50 vest now…
