Vertical living

We spent Christmas in a lighthouse on the Somerset coast, which meant lots and lots of steps.

The main living area (TV, tea and toast) was on the ground floor, the bedroom 21 steps up on the first floor, the dining room 93 steps up on the fifth floor, the main kitchen 108 steps up on the sixth floor and the lantern room up a ladder from there.

And apparently, the fitness that you get from running is not the type of fitness that you need to climb stairs.  Or so my pounding heart and wheezing would suggest.

Oh well.  It’s one way to work off a Christmas dinner.

Trying to work out why the kitchen is 108 steps up. Did you have toast for Christmas dinner?
