At 5 hours and 10 minutes, not the fastest one that you will ever meet, but a marathoner never-the-less.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. When last we met, Easter had been and gone and I was (1,150) excal in the red. Since then, I have:
- travelled to Fort William on the Caledonian Sleeper
- hunted high and low for Nessie
- discovered a wonderful guest house in Strathpeffer, just north of Inverness
- eaten at a great Indian restaurant in Dingwall
- wandered around Thurso
- been hailed on at Dunnet’s Head, the most northerly bit of mainland Britain
- visited John O’Groats
- explored Wick
- gone grave hunting nears Bonar Bridge
- run the Inverness parkrun
- completed (run is possibly too strong a term) the Lochaber marathon
- travelled back to London on the Caledonian Sleeper.
I’ve also eaten sticky toffee pudding in a lake of cream, icecream-filled chocolate eclairs and more shortbread than you can shake a stick at. So on the viceathon stakes, I’m going to cheat and say:
April 9 – 16
Chocolate in: nil
Puddings and biscuits in: loads – call it 1,450 pudcal = 2,900 excal
Exercise out: one parkrun = 300 excal, one marathon = 2,600 excal
Viceathon total b/fwd: (1,150) excal
Viceathon total c/fwd: (1,150) excal
Well done on the marathon and the best way in the world get there. I LOVE the Caledonian Sleeper. Many happy memories
It’s great, isn’t it? There’s something rather fun about going to sleep in England and waking up in the Highlands of Scotland.
Whooo hoooo. Congratulations on your success. How was it?
Welcome to the elite club of marathoners. Ready to do it again?
Um. May I get back to you on that one?
