The urge to run up hills, like the urge to tidy up, is something that comes over me very, very rarely and is therefore to be grasped firmly with both hands.
So instead of a token mile around the block (training plan rest day meets Janathon), I ended up doing a four mile fartlek with eleven mini uphill efforts*, of which four were at 8:45 min/mile pace and the remaining seven were at 7:15 min/mile pace.
*38 seconds (or 60 left foot falls) apiece. I like to count.
Wow! What a pace!
Hence the 38 second bursts. Any longer and I’d have collapsed!
Oooo … Sounds harsh! Well done!
“Hill farts” = runner science meets juvenile fun. Love it!
*titters*
If you were any more on fire than you are at the moment you’d have to run with an extinguisher! 🙂
great pace!! bit naughty on a rest day though 🙂
Ah. Yes. Well. I did add a rest day in on Monday in lieu of a 9 mile run.
wow!! super speedy.. well done x
‘Hill farts’!! *snigger*
Mega quick hill reps on a rest day? I think you’re still jet lagged. Go lie down until it passes.
Only in my dreams could I do a 7:15 minute/mile!!! Go Aspeedypus!
I did mention that the fast bits were for 38 seconds? Which is from here to the lamppost. If I ever run a full mile at that pace I shall collapse in shock.
“Four mile fartlek with eleven mini uphill efforts” sounds like a Marks and Spencers pre-made party buffet. “Have you tried the Four Mile Fartlek Tarquil?” “No Ethel, but these little Mini Uphill Efforts are simply delicious!”
Lol
Wowee!
Struggling to understand the urge to do hills. Impressive stuff!
Was the change is speed due to farting though?! *snorts with laughter* Awesome effort.
I’m very impressed!
Speedwork uphill – impressive stuff!
