My plan for Juneathon is simple. Run all the runs on my training plan, complete all the exercise sessions on my sadistic bodyweight training app* and fill in any rest days with a token something or other.
Today was a rest day as far my training plan was concerned, and a plyometrics** day on the sadistic app, but as (a) I didn’t get home from work until nearly nine, (b) each of the exercise sessions is 45 mins long and (c) my training plan specified “Total Rest, Stretching Only”, I was very tempted to make today a token day and count running for the bus as my Juneathon activity***.
But that would be sensible, and where’s the fun in that? So I stuck to my guns, ignored the Total Rest instruction (something which will almost certainly come back to haunt me) and pressed play on my app****.
3 down, 27 to go.
*Volt Fitness, should anyone care
**aka jumping. Squat jumps, tuck jumps, slalom jumps, rope jumps (with an imaginary rope), split jumps and one legged hops interspersed with some squatting, lunging and lifting.
***I’ve done it before. I shall no doubt do it again.
****Thank you, twitter folk, for your encouragement.
Wow! I could probably do rope jumps and hopping … Well done 🙂
I’m going to look that up. Don’t know how you motivate yourself to complete that on your own and after a long day. I need to be yelled at,or think I’m going to be first to wimp out to put in any effort!
Juneathon. That was my motivation. In May or July my plan would have been out the window in a flash!
I might try that app – impressive motivation!
What? With my knees? 🙂
JovialGnome beat me to it! My knees couldn’t cope with the squats and lunges and other painful sounding stuff. But Kudos to you for attempting it after a long day. This’ll be me next week …
Imaginary rope jumping! Sounds risky. What happens when you imagine tripping over?
You have an imaginary fall and get imaginary grazes 🙂
ah. so that was an imaginary tree root on Sunday 😛
That app is a bit hardcore for me, so you’re my hero! Keep it up & think of how saintly you’ll feel by the end of June!
Now if only I could apply the same grit to my revision!
You are such an inspiring read! Keep it up, I’m going to need good reading to get me through Juneathon
To clarify, do your token effort days invove runs of less than a marathon distance?
Might check that app out later much later
You are just getting more and more hardcore by the day!
