Warrington parkrun

Warrington parkrun. If you catch the 06:05 from London Euston, make your sacrifices to the travel gods and have luck on your side then you can make it to Victoria Park in plenty of time.

This week was the inaugural and it coincided with the cross country championships at Knowsley Safari Park, a mere 16 miles away. Which meant that there were club runners by the tonne and the 380 finish tokens ran out about 80 runners before the end.

The run is a single lap, predominantly on Tarmac but with a little bit of grass and trail around the halfway mark. It starts with a couple of mini-loops of the park before heading south along a cycle path, cutting through a playing field and running on a trail path alongside the Manchester Ship Canal* before rejoining the cycle path and heading back up to Victoria Park.

It’s essentially flat, massively friendly, and has a small cafe nearby which serves a good range of post run grub.

I may well be back***

*It’s big. You can’t miss it.**

**I missed it.

***If only to look for the canal.
