Is there a better way to follow up a hot and hilly half marathon than with a fast and flat 10k?
Yes. With a leisurely bike ride into Ham to watch other people run a fast and flat 10k.
The route is a double lollipop, which includes a section of the Kingston parkrun. I found a likely looking bench and waited for the runners. Familiar faces came thick and fast. Martin (Clapham Chasers) was the first, Rosemary (Collingwood AC) was the last, and in between were Windmilers and parkrunners galore.
If I weren’t too scared to sign up for 10k races (they always turn up in my training plan as “All Out” efforts, and 60 mins of “All Out” is hard!), I’d definitely be adding this to my To Do list.
Especially now I know that all finishers receive a mug, a banana and a bar of chocolate.
Wow a mug banana and choc, must come up for this one!
sounds like a good one.. next year?
Mind you, bet the chocolate was all melty in this heat??
If it was, no one seemed to care.
Banana, mug AND a chocolate bar? Count me in!
I know! I’ve rarely seen so many happy runners.
