And the rest

There is a lovely bit in Chrissie Wellington’s autobiography where she is extolling the virtues of rest days.

And spending the day shopping or gardening doesn’t count as rest.  It has to involve sitting down, preferably on a sofa.  This is not wasted time.  Banish that guilt and rest assured that your sofa is making you faster, stronger and more resilient.

I have spent the evening becoming faster, stronger and more resilient, albeit with a tiny bit of stretching thrown in for good measure.

I can’t help thinking that rest days only work the way Chrissie says if you’ve actually done the hard training beforehand, but for tonight, I am banishing the guilt and revelling in a lazy evening spent nurturing my inner sloth.

Bliss.

  2. Great training. I am going to embrace the training power of my sofa!

  3. I’ve definitely not quite got the rest day vs exercise balance quite right.

    Enjoy getting stronger and faster.

I never knew the sofa was such a training aid. Thank you for sharing!
