Bonus miles

Rumour has it that you can’t call yourself an ultrarunner until you’ve perfected the art of navigation, or rather until you’ve run an ultra’s worth of in-race bonus miles.  Why settle for the measly 50 miles offered by the race director when a moment’s inattention can add another four and substantially improve your value for money?  Why limit yourself to the 14 hills in the published route when skipping past a stile can add another and boost your strava elevation stats for good measure?

To date, I’ve only clocked up about 4 in-race bonus miles, so I decided to use today’s training session to polish up my navigational skills…

…by running a 7.2 mile point-to-point route from King’s Cross St Pancras to London Euston.
