I have had a very mixed week, running wise.
Tuesday – no run (bad)
Wednesday – short run (better than nothing, I guess)
Thursday – ran into work (good)
Friday – no run (ok, as it was a rest day)
Saturday – Nonsuch parkrun with subtenner and marathon mercer (fantastic) and a running lesson (excellent)
And then today, it was long run day. Which is a bundle of mixed messages all of its own.
I went out (great), despite the rain (hurrah), and I discovered a great new route to Richmond Park (yay), and came across some really great people (woo hoo), including a really sweet man who checked I was okay because he happened to pass me as I was stopped (bless)
I also used my run to practice some of my drills from yesterday’s running lesson (good) and even felt at times that I was finding an easier running posture (whoop).
I also found out that I don’t like running in the rain. Which is probably not good given that I have picked an April marathon in one of the wettest places in Great Britain. And my rapidly blackening toenail would suggest that my new running shoes are a size too small, but better to find that out on a training run than on the day.
Oh yes, and it wasn’t really a long run. Because at 9 miles I had a choice between turning left and staying in the park, and turning right and running along a bus route. And I must confess that I opted for the bus route…and the first bus that came along.
But at least I got out.
I have just ordered a half size bigger trainers due to tender toes every time hubby moved the sheets last night I screamed at him! Well doe for getting out in the rain
glad the running lesson went well! can’t blame you for opting out after 9 miles, this rain today was horrible! thanks for the subtenner tag! 🙂
Ah, nothing wrong with that as long as you pick up the baton again this week. It’s good to have a drop back week – mine is this week and as you are doing your marathon a week before mine you just happened to time yours just right without even knowing it. Well done!
who does like running in the rain?! 😉
