…mission completed. I am pleased to be able to report that my reconnaissance mission was a success. The evening banquet was a food the locals called ‘pizza’ – a mouthwatering combination of tomato, mushroom, olive, mozarella and blue cheese on a bread base which I shall programme into the replicator forthwith.
The parkrun is a substantial social gathering, 342 participants in total, which consists of two and a half undulating loops of a park. My hosts were attending for the first time, and we kept to the back so that we could observe, and so that their two dogs would not get trampled. Unfortunately, I did not get the chance to check out the refreshments afterwards as my hosts were so pleased with my pacemaking abilities that they invited me back to their home for a ‘full english’ (again, something that I will be programming into the replicator).
There was then just time to attend a fascinating briefing about how their previous leader had overcome his speech impediment before it was time to return to the USS Janathon.
